BIDV and JBIC signed a cooperation agreement on green finance

On November 17, 2025, BIDV and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) signed a Cooperation Agreement to support Vietnam's decarbonization and energy transition.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam Ito Naoki and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long within the framework of the 4th Vietnam - Japan AZEC Summit in Hanoi.

The cooperation agreement affirms the traditional and effective relationship between the two leading banks of Vietnam and Japan since 2013. Accordingly, the two sides agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation towards the goal of decarbonization and energy transition in Vietnam. The core cooperation content of the Agreement includes considering funding potential projects in the field of energy transition, bringing benefits to the Parties and maximizing the national interests of Vietnam and Japan. The cooperation agreement marks an important step forward in the relationship between the two sides in the journey to support Vietnam in realizing its commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

Witnessed by senior leaders of the two countries, the MOU signing event between BIDV and JBIC has special significance, not only marking an important step forward in bilateral cooperation between the two banks but also contributing to promoting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Japan, accompanying the development of businesses of the two countries and the sustainable development of the socio-economy in the region in general.

Established in 2012, JBIC is a policy financial institution wholly owned by the Japanese Government. JBIC's main objectives are to contribute to the sound development of the Japanese and international economy and society by carrying out the following areas of activities: promoting the development and securing the acquisition of overseas resources of strategic importance to Japan; maintaining and enhancing the international competitiveness of Japanese industry; promoting overseas business and investment activities aimed at protecting the global environment, such as providing financial services necessary to prevent global warming; preventing instability in international financial markets or taking appropriate measures against the effects of damages caused by such instability.
