On August 14, 2026, in Ho Chi Minh City, BIDV collaborated with the Thai Business Association in Vietnam (ThaiCham) to organize a seminar titled “Update on Vietnam’s Economic Situation and Stock Market Outlook,” attended by more than 100 delegates representing FDI enterprises from Thailand, Singapore, and the United States

The seminar featured presentations, panel discussions, and in-depth analysis by Dr. Can Van Luc—a member of the National Financial and Monetary Policy Advisory Council and Chief Economist at BIDV—along with experts from Dragon Capital.

Boosting Capital Flows and Business Operations for FDI Enterprises

In 2026 and beyond, Vietnam will continue to be one of the most attractive investment destinations in the ASEAN region thanks to its impressive economic growth, stable political and social environment, modern transportation infrastructure and industrial zones, supported by new-generation Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and Vietnam’s major reform policies. However, the global economic landscape in 2026–2027 will remain fraught with volatility due to global geopolitical developments, inflationary pressures, policy shifts, and significant legal regulations, as well as U.S. tariff risks and Vietnam’s high-interest-rate environment. Therefore, foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs) in Vietnam need access to comprehensive, up-to-date information and flexible financial solutions to develop appropriate business strategies.

BIDV and ThaiCham Create an Effective New Channel for Connecting Businesses in Both Countries

Among Vietnam’s key economic partners, Thailand has consistently been one of the leading countries in terms of foreign direct investment in Vietnam. To date, Thailand’s cumulative registered investment capital in Vietnam has exceeded 15.4 billion USD, with over 800 active projects. Major Thai conglomerates such as SCG, Thai Beverage, C.P. Group, WHA, and Central Retail continue to expand their operations, making significant contributions to the development of key sectors such as fast-moving consumer goods, industrial real estate, retail, and renewable energy. The seminar, jointly organized by BIDV and ThaiCham, created an additional channel for networking, in-depth exchange, and support to help Thai-funded enterprises in Vietnam adapt to market changes.

At the seminar, leading economic experts shared in-depth analyses of Vietnam’s macroeconomic situation, the opportunities and challenges facing foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs), and the outlook for the Vietnamese stock market. In particular, the speakers provided information on the economy, trade, investment, policies, and forecasts for Vietnam’s economic potential in 2026 and beyond. As one of the keynote speakers, Dr. Can Van Luc shared an overview of Vietnam’s macroeconomic landscape in 2026, its potential and challenges, forecasts for the economic and investment outlook in Vietnam for the 2026–2030 period, and the opportunities and challenges facing FDI enterprises. In addition, Ms. Dang Nguyet Minh—Head of Research at Dragon Capital—presented a session on stock market trends following the upgrade, the growth potential of listed industry sectors, and the integration of ESG factors into corporate governance.

Following the presentations, the discussion session drew significant interest from FDI enterprises, with many practical questions focusing on current hot-button issues in Vietnam, such as the increase in foreign capital inflows into Vietnam’s financial system and the banking sector’s response, interest rate trends, exchange rates’ short-term impact on corporate and retail finance, and opportunities for real estate investment trusts (REITs) and private equity funds. The speakers’ in-depth analyses and multifaceted perspectives during the session helped bolster the confidence of international investors while supporting FDI enterprises in making more proactive investment decisions and expanding their business operations in Vietnam.
