In accordance with Directive No. 18/CĐ-CT issued by the Tax Department regarding the concentration of resources to implement the campaign “Cleaning Up Tax Identification Numbers—Removing Business Bottlenecks,” the Hanoi City Tax Department has comprehensively implemented tasks and measures to review and standardize taxpayer data, improve the quality of tax administration, and assist taxpayers in promptly resolving issues related to tax registration information.

According to the tax authority, the campaign was launched to address the situation where taxpayers have ceased operations but have not completed the procedures to invalidate their tax identification numbers or are no longer operating at their registered addresses; thereby contributing to the development of a comprehensive, accurate, and transparent taxpayer database, which facilitates production, business operations, and tax administration.

During the campaign, the Hanoi City Tax Department has identified public outreach, support, and guidance for taxpayers as one of its key tasks, helping taxpayers clearly understand the status of their tax identification numbers and proactively review, update, and complete their tax registration information in accordance with regulations.

To provide timely support to taxpayers during the implementation process, the Hanoi City Tax Department has compiled the “Guide to Tax ID Cleanup” and other outreach and guidance materials focusing on the following topics:

- Explanations of tax ID statuses;

- Instructions for handling tax identification numbers in statuses 03 and 06;

- Answers to common scenarios and issues;

- Warnings about risks taxpayers may face;

- Recommendations for taxpayers to proactively contact and coordinate with tax authorities to review and update their tax registration information.

By providing this Handbook and other guidance materials, the Hanoi City Tax Department aims to help taxpayers easily access information, understand the status of their tax identification numbers, proactively complete necessary procedures, and minimize issues during the fulfillment of their tax obligations.

The Hanoi City Tax Department requests that organizations, businesses, business households, and individual business owners take an active interest in studying the contents of the Guidebook, review their tax registration information, and coordinate with tax authorities to address any cases requiring updates or adjustments in accordance with regulations.

Proactively cleaning up and standardizing tax identification number information not only helps taxpayers safeguard their rights while fulfilling their tax obligations but also contributes to the tax sector’s efforts to build a modern, accurate data management system that effectively supports tax administration and improves the business environment.
