First Challenge: "Stock Broker"

To kick off the show, the three competing teams will take on the exciting yet challenging “Data Hunt” challenge. Their first task is to explain the specialized financial term “stockbroker” to a special guest: Nguyen Phuc Cuong, a fourth-grade student.

How can they make these dry terms come alive, be easy to understand, and convince a 10-year-old boy? The creativity and communication skills of the students from UTH, BVU, and RMIT will be put to the ultimate test. Immediately afterward, the teams will face in-depth questions regarding the management of electronic invoice data to accumulate their initial capital for the fierce race ahead.

The Big Bang Round: “How can a family-run restaurant sell well, provide a fun dining experience, comply with the law, and ensure sustainable long-term growth?”

The most realistic and compelling highlight of Episode 2 of the Quarterfinals lies in the Big Bang Round, where the competing teams must solve a “make-or-break” challenge for contestant Phương Uyên (25).

As the next generation taking over her family’s 20-year-old hot pot restaurant—a business that has supported multiple generations and now seats up to 30 tables—Phương Uyên is at a crossroads. The restaurant currently accepts payments through multiple channels (cash, bank transfers, e-wallets, and food delivery apps), but management remains entirely manual, with bookkeeping done based on memory and habit. More concerning is that the business’s cash flow and the family’s personal expenses are intermingled; employment contracts with family members are primarily “verbal agreements.”

Faced with new tax regulations for small businesses, Uyên’s family is alarmed by a flurry of rumors on social media about “retroactive tax collection” and “taxes on bank transfers.” Uyen understands that if she continues to operate as before, her hot pot restaurant will not only face the risk of legal penalties but will also miss out on opportunities to expand her business, secure loans, or partner with major platforms.

“How can a family-run restaurant not only sell well and create a fun dining experience but also comply with the law and feel secure about long-term growth?”—that is the major challenge the three competing teams must tackle to win the right to propose a solution package. In particular, right on stage, the judges will put the teams in a difficult position with an unexpected “internal crisis”: a family member reports violations to the authorities. The teams’ ability to communicate, review financial records, and handle internal public relations crises will be the deciding factors for victory in this round.

Contestants participating in Episode 2 of the Quarterfinals

After solving the group challenges, the three top representatives from UTH, BVU, and RMIT will advance to the individual showdown to secure a spot in the next round. Here, contestants must use their accumulated funds to bid on the “Star of Responsibility” item (a contribution to the CSR fund serving the community) and race against the clock to unlock three extremely difficult layers of codes. The code challenges revolve around critical issues in the digital age: Digital Identity in the Digital Economy and Digital Tax Filing and Management Platforms.

RMIT University Vietnam Representative Emerges as the Winner

Bringing the nail-biting race to a close, with composure, poise, and sharp financial and legal acumen, Cat Tuong (RMIT University Vietnam) rose to the occasion and secured the overall victory.

This convincing victory not only secured Cat Tuong’s spot in the Semifinals but also earned RMIT University Vietnam a prestigious scholarship worth VND 200 million, sponsored by BIDV Bank.
