2026 Money Universe: The "Call Me" Talk Show, in partnership with BIDV, helps build a solid financial safety net for every family

On the morning of September 20, the community event “Call Me,” part of Semifinal 5 of the 2026 Universe of Money program, took place in an emotional atmosphere at Bureau A05.

As a strategic partner, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) continues to reaffirm its commitment to social responsibility, joining hands with the community to raise awareness and protect assets against increasingly sophisticated financial fraud schemes in the digital age.

Bridging Generations – When Knowledge and Experience Speak Together

The event brought together more than 50 seniors, 200 students, 50 police officers, and a large number of experts in finance, economics, cybersecurity, and psychology. An open dialogue space between generations laid the groundwork for candid discussions about trust, psychological traps, and how to establish a secure defense for family assets.

Notably, the program featured in-depth expert contributions from two special representatives from BIDV: Ms. Phung Thi Van Anh (80 years old)—former Chairwoman of the BIDV Board of Directors—and Dr. Can Van Luc—Chief Economist at BIDV and Member of the National Advisory Council on Financial and Monetary Policy—who joined Associate Professor Dr. Do Hoai Linh, a financial education expert; Mr. Pham Luu Hung, Chief Economist at SSI and an analyst; Mr. Nguyen Tat Hong Duong, Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Cybersecurity e-Magazine. The event also featured Lieutenant Colonel, Dr. Bui Thi Lien, a criminal psychology expert from the People’s Security Academy.

The speakers discussed issues related to online fraud.

Victims Lose More Than Just Money & The “Stop – Verify – Call” Formula

During the talk show, the speakers agreed that there is no such thing as a “group of people prone to being scammed”; rather, there are “moments when anyone can be scammed” when they are psychologically manipulated or placed in urgent situations.

In particular, the losses following each scam extend beyond the financial amount stolen; they also include a collapse of trust, the depletion of retirement savings, and the emotional strain that weighs heavily on family relationships. If the first reaction of children when their parents lose money is to blame them, that is the “second loss” that crushes the elderly.

The elderly attendees at the event included some who had themselves been victims of online scams; they shared their personal experiences to raise awareness among everyone about the risks of falling victim to online fraud.

To solve this problem, the program has established a simple yet highly effective defense principle: "SET UP - VERIFY - CALL":

  1. STOP: Pause for a few minutes; under no circumstances should you transfer money or follow instructions while under time pressure or threat.
  2. VERIFY: Verify the information through official, independent channels instead of trusting one-sided statements over the phone.
  3. CALL: Proactively call a family member, relative, or law enforcement agency immediately to seek timely assistance.

Family serves as the closest line of defense.

BIDV – Standing alongside the community to safeguard financial achievements

The “Call Your Child” program is part of the “Preservation Planet”—the final piece in the “Earn – Invest – Save – Spend – Preserve” journey of the 2026 Money Universe.

BIDV’s continuous involvement in the program once again reaffirms the bank’s strategic direction: Not only does BIDV provide secure financial solutions with state-of-the-art technology, but it also stands alongside customers and the community in raising awareness, protecting the fruits of their labor, and ensuring peace of mind for every Vietnamese family.
