At the event, leaders of Đông Cuông Commune provided an overview of the local socio-economic development situation.

Accordingly, Dong Cuong Commune was established through the merger of four communes, covering an area of over 146 km² with a population of more than 21,800 people from 14 ethnic groups living together. In recent years, the locality has focused on leadership and the coordinated implementation of socio-economic development tasks, gradually improving the people’s standard of living. The average annual income per capita reached 62 million VND; the rate of residents enrolled in health insurance reached 96.5%.

However, the commune still has 66 poor households and 117 near-poor households, and the people’s lives remain challenging, requiring continued support.

The Deputy General Director of BIDV affirmed: “The medical equipment donated today represents the heartfelt support and collective effort of all BIDV staff and employees toward healthcare facilities.” Enhancing medical equipment not only helps improve local diagnostic and treatment capabilities but also alleviates the burden on higher-level hospitals, creating conditions for the public—especially residents in remote and isolated areas—to access timely and effective healthcare services.

Comrade Nguyen Tuan Anh, Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial People’s Committee, delivered remarks at the event.

The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee emphasized: Lao Cai is a mountainous, border province with a vast territory and significant socio-economic challenges, particularly in remote and hard-to-reach areas. Therefore, social welfare and healthcare for the people have always been identified by the province as central, ongoing tasks, guided by the consistent principle of “putting the people at the center, as the main actors, and as the goal of development.”

He noted that the province is currently focusing on vigorously implementing key projects for the 2026–2030 period, notably the Multidimensional Poverty Reduction Project and the Healthcare Development Project, centered on three core pillars: infrastructure, equipment, and human resources, to better meet the people’s healthcare needs.

Throughout this process, BIDV’s partnership has been of utmost importance. In recent times, BIDV has actively supported the province in numerous social welfare activities, such as: eliminating temporary housing, building schools, and addressing the aftermath of natural disasters and epidemics; particularly today’s program to provide medical equipment and free medical examinations and treatment for the people. BIDV’s practical and effective contributions have helped spread profound humanitarian values, leaving a positive impression on the provincial government and the people of all ethnic groups in Lao Cai Province.

In the coming period, Lao Cai Province hopes to continue receiving BIDV’s support and partnership in the fields of healthcare, education, poverty reduction, and livelihood support for the people, particularly in remote and disadvantaged areas, thereby helping to improve the quality of life and happiness index of the people.

This is a meaningful and practical initiative that helps improve the quality of medical examinations and treatment at the commune health station and encourages families to stabilize their lives.
