Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam visits and works at the Bank for Investment and Development of Cambodia (BIDC)

On the afternoon of August 25, 2025, in Phnom Penh, General Director of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) Le Ngoc Lam, along with the Board of Directors of the Bank for Investment and Development of Cambodia (BIDC), was honored to welcome a delegation of senior leaders of the State Bank of Vietnam led by Governor Nguyen Thi Hong to visit and work at BIDC.

Governor Nguyen Thi Hong's working visit took place in the context of the economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia being constantly strengthened and developed. This was also an opportunity for senior leaders of the Vietnamese banking sector to directly grasp the operational situation of the Cambodian banking and finance sector and the operations of BIDV's commercial presence in the Cambodian market, and at the same time, orient the development strategy in the new period.

At the meeting, BIDV and BIDC respectfully reported to the Governor and the working delegation on the business results of BIDC and BIDV's commercial presence in Cambodia achieved in the past time, as well as development orientations in the coming time.

According to the report, BIDC has achieved remarkable achievements in deploying modern banking services, meeting the diverse needs of corporate and individual customers in the Cambodian market. In particular, the bank has effectively promoted its bridging role in supporting Vietnamese enterprises to invest and do business in Cambodia, while facilitating bilateral trade transactions between the two countries.

Regarding development orientation, BIDC commits to continue to improve the banking technology system, expand its operating network and diversify its products and services, increase the proportion of service revenue and provide better support for Vietnamese enterprises investing in Cambodia.

The Governor's profound and dedicated instructions

Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Hong acknowledged the reports and proposals of BIDV/BIDC and shared valuable advice, encouraged the BIDC team and BIDV's commercial presences in Cambodia, and gave profound, dedicated, and valuable instructions to the operations of BIDV's commercial presences in the Cambodian market.

In her speech at the meeting, Governor Nguyen Thi Hong emphasized the importance of maintaining and developing safe and effective banking activities in regional markets. The Governor directed BIDC to continue to strictly comply with the laws of the two countries, ensuring transparent and sustainable business activities.

The Governor also appreciated BIDC's pioneering role in applying digital technology to banking activities, and encouraged banks to continue investing in improving service quality and expanding customer service scope.

The Governor particularly acknowledged BIDC’s positive contributions in supporting the business community and Vietnamese people living and working in Cambodia. The Bank has created an important financial bridge, facilitating remittance, investment and trade activities, contributing to the common prosperity of both countries. The Governor emphasized that BIDC’s success not only contributes to enhancing the reputation of the BIDV brand but also affirms the capacity and position of the Vietnamese banking system in the international arena.

At the end of the working session, in a solemn and cozy atmosphere, Governor Nguyen Thi Hong wrote in the traditional Golden Book of BIDC, sent congratulations and hoped that BIDC would operate more safely and effectively and achieve more achievements, contributing positively to the economic development, banking sector and Vietnam - Cambodia relationship in the coming time.

The Governor's guestbook is not only a valuable encouragement but also shows the trust and expectation of senior leaders of the Vietnamese banking industry in the development potential of BIDC. This is also a great source of motivation for all officers and employees of BIDC to continue to strive to excellently complete assigned tasks, building BIDC to become a leading bank in the Cambodian market.

Governor Nguyen Thi Hong's visit and working session at BIDC once again affirmed the State Bank of Vietnam's strong commitment to supporting commercial banks to expand their operations, contributing to enhancing the position and reputation of the Vietnamese banking system in the regional and international arena.
