Ministry of Industry and Trade and BIDV cooperate to develop e-commerce
Recently, in Hanoi, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade) and the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in e-commerce development.

According to the memorandum of understanding, the two units will cooperate in 05 key areas: (i) Promoting digital payments; (ii) Supporting capital sources for e-commerce; (iii) Increasing the base of corporate and small business customers participating in e-commerce; (iv) Accompanying in events promoting e-commerce and digital transformation; (v) Promoting ESG practices. At the same time, BIDV commits to continue to promote its pioneering role in providing smart, safe and effective financial services, closely coordinating with the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy in implementing solutions to increase the proportion of commercial activities in the digital space, enhancing efficiency and transparency of operations for organizations and individuals doing online business, thereby promoting growth and bringing positive values to the Vietnamese economy.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Tran Long - Deputy General Director of BIDV - said: In recent times, the Vietnamese e-commerce market has had strong developments with a growth rate of 18% - 25% per year and the value has reached 25 billion USD by 2024. With the important role of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy in the digital transformation process of enterprises, BIDV wishes to continue to be a companion partner to promote e-commerce activities and promote digital transformation and green transformation in the economy.
Currently, BIDV has pioneered in deploying banking solutions to support diverse customer needs on e-commerce platforms, including: Modern digital payment solutions (eCom online payment gateway, B2B payment gateway, BIDV QR); Flexible SME Fast Track account packages with loan support package options with attractive interest rates, quick procedures, and an open banking ecosystem (Open API) connecting banking services on sales management platforms and connecting with e-commerce platforms.

Ms. Le Hoang Oanh, Director of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, emphasized: “We are committed to closely coordinating with BIDV in connecting with relevant partners to deploy digital payment solutions, piloting the application of digital payments in traditional markets, promoting the connection of traditional markets with digital platforms in e-commerce. At the same time, the Department will accompany and coordinate with BIDV to organize events such as programs, conferences, seminars on digital transformation, green transformation and trade promotion events to raise awareness and skills in applying e-commerce and digital payments for businesses and small traders…”

In addition, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy will support BIDV to promote e-commerce activities for its customer base of 22 million individuals and 500,000 corporate customers.
As a representative of a business participating in e-commerce activities, Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh from TikTok Vietnam said: "The cooperation between the two units will actively support individual businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises to improve their digital skills, financial and legal knowledge and provide convenient products and services to help Vietnamese businesses take advantage of the Internet and e-commerce."
This cooperation is also an important touch point, supporting e-commerce platforms to increase the number of users, increase financial utilities, and move towards a more diverse and expanding digital ecosystem. Thereby, it will create strong impetus for the development of e-commerce in Vietnam, contributing to realizing the national goal of digital economy.
