Today's Stock Market, April 8: Market Trades Positively on Upgrade News
News that FTSE upgraded Vietnam’s stock market from frontier to secondary emerging status was immediately reflected in today’s trading session
BASIC MARKET
The VN-Index surged by over 79 points today and closed at 1,756.55 points. Market breadth leaned toward the positive side, with 18 out of 18 sectors gaining ground, led by the Information Technology and Real Estate sectors.
Regarding foreign investor trading, foreign investors were net sellers across all three exchanges—HSX, HNX, and UPCOM—today.
News that FTSE upgraded Vietnam’s stock market from frontier to secondary emerging status was immediately reflected in today’s session; the VN-Index broke decisively through the 1,700–1,710 range to move toward the 1,750–1,770 range. The index has completed an inverse head-and-shoulders pattern and may move toward the 1,840 target level in the coming sessions.
