10 Years of Establishing a Strong Presence in the Capital’s Socio-Economic Development

On April 17, 2026, five BIDV branches—Hoang Mai (Hanoi), Gia Lam, Ngoc Khanh (Hanoi), Hoai Duc, and Bac Ha—celebrated their 10th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in the remarkable development of these five branches within the capital and their effective contributions to the overall growth of the system.

Ten years ago, to expand its operational scope, enhance the system’s competitive edge, and improve customer service capabilities amid Hanoi’s urban expansion, BIDV established five new branches at key entry points to the capital. This was a strategically significant step in the development of BIDV’s network.

Ten years—a journey of perseverance and consistency

After 10 years of operation, despite starting with a modest scale compared to other units in the system, the five branches have risen to prominence, affirming their position within the system with notable results and achievements.

After a decade of perseverance, by December 31, 2025, capital mobilization—which stood at 6 trillion VND in 2016—had reached over 76 trillion VND—a 13-fold increase, with an average annual growth rate of 32%, accounting for 8% of the regional market share. Outstanding credit balances, which were nearly 4 trillion VND, have reached over 75 trillion VND—a nearly 19-fold increase, with an average annual growth rate of 39%, accounting for 9% of the regional market. The net interest margin and pre-tax profit have grown at average annual rates of 61% and 58%, respectively.

Explaining this, Mr. Pham Trung Hieu, Director of BIDV Hoai Duc, speaking on behalf of the five branches, stated: "The answer does not come from short-term solutions, but from a persistent and consistent journey, closely adhering to BIDV’s strategic direction and operational guidance. Branch leadership has adhered to procedures and regulations, managed operations proactively and flexibly; tightened discipline and accountability; optimized organizational structures and operational efficiency; shifted from target-setting to goal-oriented and performance-based management; and selected the most suitable market segments to concentrate resources. This mindset is realized through a foundation built on three core elements: people, technology, and risk management.

With an initial staff of just 50–60 people, the average has now increased to 94 per branch, all standardized in terms of professional expertise and adaptability; the application of technology and digital banking has been intensified in every operational process; and risk control principles have been consistently upheld throughout. It is precisely this foundation that has enabled the five branches to gradually overcome the phase of “limited resources and weak foundations” and transition into a phase of accelerated growth.

For newly established units, customers remain the core factor determining survival and sustainable growth. As of December 31, 2025, the five branches had over 392,000 individual customers and more than 9,000 corporate customers—a 28-fold increase compared to 2016. Among them, the Hoai Duc Branch stands out as a clear highlight in retail customer development, with a total of over 120,000 customers and extensive coverage in the local area, ranking 16th in the cluster. The Hoang Mai Hanoi Branch is a model unit with a diverse customer base, including national key energy projects and major projects across various sectors such as education, healthcare, and manufacturing.

Growth scale is always accompanied by safety: the non-performing loan ratio and Group 5 loans at the branches are currently controlled at below 1%. Credit quality is well-managed, and business efficiency continues to rise; internal unity is strong, and employees’ incomes are constantly improving and increasing... The branches have affirmed market confidence, credibility, and the standing of each branch in their respective regions. And they have all made significant contributions—to varying degrees and in different ways—to the overall results of the entire system.

Speaking at the Commemoration Ceremony, Chairman of the Board of Directors Phan Duc Tu sincerely acknowledged the efforts and achievements of the five branches: “Ten years is not a long journey compared to BIDV’s history of formation and development, but it is a journey sufficient to affirm the resilience, determination, and aspiration of the five branches in fulfilling their assigned missions and business tasks.

“We can truly take pride in the achievements, the value created, and the significant contributions of the five branches. On behalf of the Leadership Board, I sincerely acknowledge, commend, and express my deep gratitude to the generations of staff and employees of the five branches across all periods, who have continuously strived, united, and dedicated their intellect and passion to build strong branches, making an important contribution to the overall development of the entire System," Chairman Phan Duc Tu emphasized.

In the next phase of development, the Chairman of the Board of Directors also urged the five branches to focus on several key priorities.

First, continue to strengthen the foundation and pursue safe, sustainable growth. Adhere to the principles: growth must go hand in hand with risk management; efficiency must be tied to quality; and development must be grounded in discipline. Success is not measured solely by scale but by the value created.

Second, accelerate digital transformation and business model innovation. This involves not only adopting technology but also changing the mindset toward serving customers, enhancing the customer experience, and personalizing services, aiming for a modern, smart, and customer-friendly banking model;

Third, remain steadfast in the principle of “customer-centricity” in all activities. Shift from a “service” mindset to a “partnership” mindset with customers. BIDV must not only provide products and services but also understand customers, walk alongside them, and be a trusted and valuable financial partner. Today’s customers need not only good service but also a good experience—they need understanding, empathy, respect, and efficiency. Every product, every process, and every action must answer the questions: “Is the customer respected? What benefits do they gain? In what ways is it more convenient?” And only when customers succeed can BIDV achieve sustainable development and fulfill its mission.

Fourth, build a team of truly professional, capable, and ambitious staff. This is the decisive factor for success. Every staff member must continuously learn, enhance their capabilities, uphold professional ethics, and maintain a sense of responsibility. Every staff member must set a new standard: “Transition from doing well to excelling.” “It’s not just about meeting requirements but doing the best possible.”

Fifth, build and effectively practice BIDV’s culture; live and work with responsibility and compassion; effectively carry out social responsibility initiatives and fulfill our duty to the community; contribute to realizing the strategic goal: building BIDV into a Friendly - Modern - Compassionate Bank, a leading Large - Strong - Green Bank in the region, and effectively fulfilling the mission of delivering benefits and convenience to customers, shareholders, employees, and serving the nation.
