BIDV Dragon Boat Club – From Team Rowing Rhythm to Unique Cultural Identity
In its journey to build and develop corporate culture, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) has always chosen sustainable values that are profound and foster long-term cohesion. Among many activities, the BIDV Dragon Boat Club stands out as a unique feature – not just a sports club, but a part of BIDV's culture, formed and nurtured by team spirit, discipline, and unity.
Dragon boating is a unique sport because it leaves no room for individualism, does not celebrate outstanding individuals, but requires absolute harmony among members. Each stroke is only truly powerful when the whole team is in sync. It is this spirit that has made dragon boating a vivid metaphor for how BIDV operates, develops, and works together through many stages.

In the joyful atmosphere of welcoming the new Spring, this spirit continues to spread through the rowing exchange of the BIDV Dragon Boat Club on West Lake – a cultural space rich in symbolism in the capital. Amidst the gentle spring colors and the windy lake, the sound of drums beating in rhythm harmonized with the steady rowing of oars, creating a lively, vibrant, and emotional picture of sports and culture.
The gathering was not only a physical training activity at the beginning of the year, but also a way for BIDV to start the new year with a spirit of unity, solidarity, and positive energy. After the gathering on West Lake, members of the BIDV Dragon Boat Club participated in a spring pilgrimage to Tay Ho Palace – a famous spiritual destination in the capital.

In a sacred and solemn atmosphere, BIDV officials respectfully offered incense, praying for a peaceful and prosperous new year, smooth work, and continued strong development for the organization. The pilgrimage not only signifies the beginning of spring and wishes for good luck, but also reflects the traditional cultural beauty preserved in the spiritual life of BIDV officials and employees – where the spirit of returning to one's roots and belief in good things is always cherished.
Beyond just a movement, BIDV's dragon boat culture is also affirmed by impressive achievements at large-scale competitions. At the 2024 Hanoi Dragon Boat Race, the BIDV team excelled by winning first place in the club and enterprise category; while another BIDV team also won third place, making BIDV one of the organizations with the most teams in the leading group of the competition. These achievements are clear evidence of rigorous training, a spirit of discipline, and seamless coordination – values forged from BIDV's internal culture.
However, for BIDV, the award is not the ultimate goal. The greatest value that the Dragon Boat Club brings is an environment where staff and employees can improve their health, relieve work pressure, bridge the gap between positions, and learn to listen, cooperate, and trust each other.
It is where BIDV's culture is "alive," felt through real-life experiences rather than just slogans on the wall. From early morning training sessions on the lake, to participating in competitions, to exciting exchanges every spring, BIDV's dragon boats have gone beyond the scope of a sporting activity to become a symbol of solidarity, perseverance, and companionship—quiet but powerful strokes that contribute to BIDV's unique cultural identity.
The Hanoi Dragon Boat Race has become famous and attracts enthusiasts of this sport. In 2024, nearly 800 athletes from 48 dragon boat teams participated, including: 7 international dragon boat racing teams; 8 teams from embassies and international organizations in Vietnam; 7 professional dragon boat teams from provinces and cities across the country...
