The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) confirms that information regarding the removal of banknote denominations ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 VND is inaccurate
Recently, information has been circulating on social media that the State Bank of Vietnam plans to remove banknotes with denominations ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 dong. The State Bank of Vietnam affirms that the above information is inaccurate and has no legal basis.
According to the SBV, the issuance, management, and circulation of Vietnamese currency are carried out by the SBV in accordance with legal regulations, based on fully meeting the payment needs of the economy, in line with social realities, and ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of citizens and businesses.

Therefore, the SBV requests that organizations and individuals refrain from posting or sharing inaccurate information regarding the planned removal of banknotes with denominations ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 VND. Violations will be subject to legal penalties.
