BIDV Branch 1: 35 Years of Legacy, Leading the Way, Creating Value, and Setting the Standard
On the afternoon of March 27, BIDV Branch 1 held a grand ceremony to commemorate its 35th anniversary. The event was not only an opportunity for the collective of officials and employees to look back on a proud historical journey but also to inspire the aspiration to lead the system into a new era of breakthroughs.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Vu Hoang Duong, Director of Branch 1, emotionally recalled the unit’s 35-year journey of glorious construction and development. Established in 1991 amid the nation’s initial opening-up, the branch boldly innovated its approach, transitioning from a credit-focused model to diversified services, consistently serving as a testing ground for the system’s most modern products. Through relentless effort, Branch 1 has achieved remarkable accomplishments, with projected operational scale reaching 164.504 trillion VND by 2025, profits of 2.233 trillion VND, and labor productivity leading the way at 8.2 billion VND per employee. Director Vu Hoang Duong also proudly affirmed the unit’s role as a nurturing ground, having successfully established eight reputable first-tier branches within the capital, a feat worthy of the title of Labor Hero of the Reform Era.
Carrying forward the glorious traditions of previous generations, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Bach—Secretary of the Youth Union at the branch—delivered a passionate speech representing the youth’s aspiration to rise up. Speaking on behalf of the young generation of Branch 1, he pledged to turn pride into concrete action, courageously stepping out of their comfort zones to pioneer the application of digital technology and artificial intelligence. The young workforce is determined to build a green banking model, directly contributing to the sustainable development and leading position of the entire system.
To recognize their persistent efforts and significant contributions, at the ceremony, Mr. Phan Duc Tu—Chairman of the Board of Directors of BIDV—honored and presented the Competition Flag to the collective of Branch 1 for their outstanding achievements over 35 years of operation, effectively contributing to the common cause of development. In an atmosphere of deep gratitude, the senior leadership also presented flowers to congratulate the nine former Directors of Branch 1 across different eras, honoring these steadfast captains who steered the branch through many pivotal phases.
In his keynote address at the event, Chairman of the Board of Directors Phan Duc Tu expressed deep gratitude to past generations of leaders and staff, while summarizing the significance of Branch 1 through four core values: leadership, integrity, trust, and strong influence. Outlining the direction for the coming period, he urged the branch to continue maintaining its pioneering position, comprehensively advancing the digital transformation process, transitioning toward green growth, enhancing human resource quality, and strengthening the risk management system. On this significant occasion, Chairman Phan Duc Tu personally presented Branch 1 with a banner embodying high expectations, inscribed with 12 golden characters: "Steadfastly leading the way, creating value, and setting the standard."
Concluding the solemn ceremony, Branch Director Vu Hoang Duong spoke on behalf of the staff, expressing gratitude for the close attention and guidance from BIDV’s leadership. The 35-year journey comes to a close to usher in a new chapter, where BIDV Branch 1 is committed to continuing to unite and strive to conquer new heights, living up to the trust of our customers and the glorious mission entrusted to us.
