On September 10, 2026, Euromoney magazine honored BIDV as “Vietnam’s Best Bank for ESG” at the “Awards for Excellence 2026” ceremony in Singapore.

The award recognizes the bank’s outstanding achievements in providing sustainable financial solutions, actively supporting the business community, and making tangible contributions to the nation’s sustainable economic development strategy.

In line with the nation’s sustainable development vision, BIDV has identified “Green” as one of the three pillars of its long-term development strategy.

Based on this, BIDV has developed a comprehensive ESG Strategy for the 2026–2030 period, gradually integrating environmental, social, and governance factors into its banking operations and diversifying its portfolio of sustainable financial products and solutions. Specifically, BIDV has issued the Sustainable Loan Framework 2.0—updated to align with the National Green Classification Catalog—the Sustainable Deposit Framework 2.0, the Transition Finance Framework, and launched its Sustainable Deposit product. By December 31, 2025, BIDV maintained its position as the market-leading bank with green credit outstanding reaching VND 82.332 trillion, focusing on projects and business operations that generate positive environmental and social impacts.

According to Euromoney, this scale is significant in Vietnam—where funding for the energy transition and low-emission infrastructure remains limited—while reaffirming BIDV’s position as one of the primary channels for channeling capital into sustainable sectors. “What sets BIDV apart is how the bank’s initiatives deliver tangible value to customers,” Euromoney emphasized.

In addition to its products and services, BIDV has proactively strengthened cooperation with financial institutions and international organizations such as the World Bank, ADB, JICA, and AFD to mobilize financial resources and receive technical and technological support, thereby supplementing the resources available to assist customers in their green transition. In March 2026, BIDV successfully drew down a medium- to long-term sustainable loan worth USD 250 million arranged by the ADB, adding to the capital available to support businesses.

BIDV is gradually deepening its involvement in new initiatives, standards, and infrastructure within the green finance and climate finance markets. BIDV is the first Vietnamese commercial bank to become an Accredited Entity of the Green Climate Fund and to join the Partnership for Carbon Accounting in Finance (PCAF). In June 2026, BIDV was selected by the State Securities Commission as the sole settlement bank for the domestic carbon market during the pilot phase. This is an important preparatory step for BIDV to engage more deeply in the carbon market ecosystem and support customers in adapting to the new requirements of a low-carbon economy.

Recognizing sustainable development as a core principle guiding its operations, BIDV aims to continue strengthening its position as a leading bank in ESG practices and green finance, working toward the goal of “Net Zero” emissions. In the coming period, BIDV will continue to implement a comprehensive set of measures: refining and executing its ESG Strategy; expanding sustainable finance linked to environmental, social, and climate risk management; developing financial solutions to support customers’ green transitions; increasing the mobilization of domestic and international ESG capital; promoting the digitalization and greening of internal operations; enhancing the ESG capabilities of its staff; and continuing to fulfill its social responsibilities and make positive contributions to the community.

The “Euromoney Awards for Excellence” recognize leading financial institutions for their operational efficiency, innovation, and sustainable finance practices worldwide. This is one of the most prestigious awards in the global banking industry, thanks to its rigorous and transparent evaluation process, which combines quantitative financial data with qualitative analysis from a team of independent experts.
