Hundreds of experts share insights on 'Smart Payments in the Digital Age'

On June 6, hundreds of government officials, economic experts, bank leaders, and representatives from financial institutions gathered to participate in the seminar titled 'Smart Payments in the Digital Age'.

The seminar "Smart Payments in the Digital Age" is officially taking place this morning (June 6) in Ho Chi Minh City, immediately following the lively atmosphere of the opening ceremony of the 2026 Digital Finance Festival.

The event is organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper in collaboration with the Office of the State Bank of Vietnam, the Payment Department (State Bank of Vietnam), the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, and Vietnam National Payment Corporation (Napas), under the guidance of the State Bank of Vietnam and the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.

On this occasion, the seminar was attended by government leaders, representatives from central and local regulatory agencies, economic and banking experts, technology companies, financial institutions, and the business community to discuss trends in smart payment development and solutions to promote a safe and comprehensive digital financial ecosystem.

Accordingly, the keynote speakers and main discussion topics of the seminar include:

- Speaker Pham Anh Tuan - Director of the Payment Department (State Bank of Vietnam) - on the topic: Building an Institutional Framework for Safe and Sustainable Smart Payments.

- Speaker: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung - President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking - on the topic: The Role of Smart Payments in Building a Digital Data Platform and Promoting Cross-Sectoral Economic Development.

- Speaker Nguyen Dang Hung - Deputy General Director of Vietnam National Payment Corporation (NAPAS) - presenting the topic: Cross-border Payments Driving Trade, Investment, and Tourism.

- Speaker Dam The Thai – Deputy General Director of Ho Chi Minh City Development Joint Stock Commercial Bank (HDBank) – on the topic: The effectiveness of implementing smart payments for small businesses and enterprises in the new context.

Concurrently, the seminar also featured discussions from representatives of the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department (A05) – Ministry of Public Security, the Information Technology Department – State Bank of Vietnam, and the National Tourism Department – Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

Leaders from financial institutions and banks such as Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank), Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade (Vietcombank), Mastercard, Visa, Prudential… will also present their perspectives, solutions, and implementation models for secure smart payments and comprehensive digital financial solutions.

The seminar was organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper in collaboration with the Office of the State Bank of Vietnam, the Payment Department (State Bank of Vietnam), the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, and Vietnam National Payment Corporation (Napas), under the guidance of the State Bank of Vietnam and the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.

Digital Finance Day 2026 was organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper in collaboration with various partner organizations. The program was designed as an open, diverse, and creative initiative, targeting various groups within society.

Additionally, there are activities for small businesses and street vendors through the "QR Code Conversion - Unlock Multiple Benefits" campaign; activities for young people through the game show "Financial Arena"; and programs showcasing financial technology, smart payments, and cross-border payments at the Digital Finance Festival.

The program also organizes workshops on personal financial literacy, digital financial security, and preventing tech-related fraud; while creating a forum for regulatory agencies, businesses, and the public to discuss the future of Vietnam’s digital finance through the seminar “Smart Payments in the Digital Age,” which will take place immediately following the opening ceremony.

Through this series of activities, the organizers aim to bring digital finance closer to the community; helping citizens not only experience new technologies but also gain the knowledge and skills to become proactive, safe, and smart digital financial citizens.
