On May 5, 2026, credit rating agency Moody’s issued a press release announcing the upgrade of BIDV’s outlook from “Stable” to “Positive.”

This is the highest outlook within Moody’s rating framework, reflecting the credit rating agency’s positive assessment and growing confidence in BIDV. Moody’s highly values BIDV’s importance within Vietnam’s banking system, citing its strong customer deposit base and high likelihood of receiving timely and robust support from the Vietnamese government when necessary. Funding and liquidity remain strengths due to its position as the largest state-owned bank in Vietnam. The specific outlook changes are as follows:

  • Outlook: Positive
  • Deposit/Issuer Credit Ratings: Maintained at Ba2 (the highest level equivalent to the national rating ceiling).

BIDV is the first Vietnamese bank to receive an international credit rating, and 2026 marks the 21st consecutive year that BIDV has invited Moody’s to conduct a credit rating. Inviting a reputable international organization to conduct an international credit rating for BIDV has helped affirm the bank’s commitment to transparency and its strategy of applying the best international standards to its business operations.
